Choosing an Instrument
Learning music is fun, and some children enjoy the
social activity of music making without ever moving onto an instrument any more sophisticated than a recorder. Some, however, will want to dedicate themselves to a particular instrument, and their
good initial grounding in theory both allows them to make the right choice (whether the preference is for blowing, bowing or tapping) and to make quick progress when they do. I offer piano lessons,
and can assist in locating good instrumental teachers. I also provide ongoing lessons which allow children to gain experience in music making, with their chosen instrument, in an ensemble
situation.
Piano
Instruction
I offer piano instruction for students, fully integrated
into my overall curriculum. This is introduced once the child has learnt basic musical principles, can read music, and has ensemble performance skills. This ensures that they only need to learn
piano technique, and quickly become conversant with the full range of the instrument.
